WebOS development with Ares
HP’s acquisition of Palm and the announcement of webOS 2.0 has brought renewed interest in development for webOS. Fortunately, it’s very easy to start building webOS apps with Palm’s browser-based Ares IDE.
Palm’s Ares is a browser-based Integrated Development Environment (IDE) for building apps to run on webOS. Ares, which supports drag-and-drop UI creation, integrated debugging, and even version control integration, is based on Bespin, an open source editor designed for the web browser.
Getting started with Ares is very easy; it only takes an account with the Palm Developer Center  and a browser (Firefox 3.5+,Safari 4.0 , or Chrome). However, to test your applications or take advantage of the integrated debugger, you must download and install the Palm webOS SDK, which is available for Windows, Mac OS, and Linux on the Ares website .
